Origin of Sarouk Rugs

Originating from Iran, these rugs are renowned for their balanced hues and expert craftsmanship. Many high-quality Sarouk carpets, like this one, use premium wool. This particular piece is an antique American Sarouk, well-known for its overall patterns that lack a central medallion. In the early 20th century, American buyers embraced these designs, which led to the name “American Sarouk.” Among Persian rugs, Sarouks stand out as some of the highest-quality pieces.
Rug Description
This semi-antique American Sarouk rug displays an intricate all-over floral design. Floral bouquets adorn the ivory field of the central body, while the black borders feature a combination of floral and pendant motifs. Artisans hand-knotted this rug from 100% premium wool more than 65 years ago. Measuring 7.0×10.0 feet, the rug’s unique size makes it an exceptional addition to any home. The primary colors—ivory, pink, and black—create both harmony and contrast. Natural dyes, extracted from vegetables, color the threads, giving the rug long-lasting vibrancy. The high knot density of 240 knots per square inch reflects its superior quality.
